The 5th Gate opens for Hercules, that of Leo.
And the Teacher gives Hercules a task.
To slay the wild uncontrolled Nemean lion, destroying the land & people (the wild uncontrolled personality must be quieted).
So the true Lion with strength & courage, the Lion of the Soul may emerge.
It is a difficult task indeed!

Leo is the fixed fiery sign of courage & strength.
And cultivating one’s creativity in order to individualize.
And become sovereign.

Each “labour” is a journey, a task, a quest for each of us.
The journey of the Soul’s development thru the zodiac.
In the Mystery School called Earth.

Leo, the 5th sign.
We gain our individuality in Leo.
We then become the Initiate in Capricorn.
Leo has 95 stars in its constellation. 9 + 5 = 15 = 5.
Nine is Initiation. Five is man –
Hercules wears the lion’s skin – symbolizing the perfected personality, forged thru tests & trials.
He (Hercules, we) must slay the lion (lower self) that can devour him.
Then Hercules becomes the coordinated strong fully developed personality, prepared for the direction of the Soul.
Note: all disciples must have a strong coordinated personality, for the Soul to use it as a vehicle of Service in the world.
“The Lion of Judah” must slay the wild devouring out of control Nemean lion of the personality.”
Hercules overcomes & slays the lion of the personality.
Then the 12 petaled lotus in the cave of the heart unfolds.
Hercules, a son of man, becomes once again a Son of God.
And once this is accomplished, “the people are free.”
We are Hercules.
And each of the 12 Labours is our labour to fulfill.

Leo = the true self identity –
“I am That & That am I” – I have a personality in which the Soul is not directing. In Leo, the personality & Soul are fused & blended.
Now we are able to lead under the Light of Divine Love & Will.
This is the true teacher of humanity.

Full Moon/Perigean Moon
The full moon/solar festival occurs at 9 degrees Leo.
The time of the full moon/solar festival is 11:32am (west coast time).

Moon Opposite Sun
A full moon is when the moon is opposite the Sun.
With Earth in the middle.
At full moon times, the light of the full moon is a REFLECTIVE LIGHT. The light we see from the Full Moon is the Light of the SIGH THE SUN IS IN. The moon has no light of its own.
Therefore, at full moon times, we celebrate the Light of the Sun, which is reflected by the moon.

Supermoon
There is talk of a super moon happening – four actually.
Who knows what a “supermoon” is?
And what does “supermoon” mean actually?
It used to have another name – Astronomers called it the the “perigean” full or new moon.
“Perigean” – it is a Greek word “peri” (near, around, about) – “ge” (Earth) = near to Earth.
Perigean – an orbiting heavenly body (like the moon) is closest to the earth.
A Perigean full or new moon means it’s closest to the Earth.
Thus it is brighter than usual.
We have four “perigean” moons in 2023 –
July 2-3 (past)
August 1 morning or evening
August 30-31 overnight (brightest of all four & closest to the Earth).
September 28-29 overnight

August is blue moon month – which means two full moons occur in August, which means two solar festivals – Leo Festival (today) and the Virgo Festival on August 30th.

Oppositions are times of integration – something over there somewhere, which we at first reject, begins to slowly integrate into our awareness. Some new information that helps direct us perhaps – Mercury/Saturn. We consider thoughtful structures, intelligent ways & means.
