News & Notes: Learning today.
Whirlwind president. Watching our president visiting
dignitaries in the Asian country. He is a builder & a deal maker.
Not a politician. The ballroom will be useful as well as beautiful.
He is the president of our Republic.
The United States is a Republic. And a Democracy.
What does that mean?
What is a Republic?
Why is the US called a republic?
Overview
The U.S. is called a republic because it is a form of government where power rests with the people who elect representatives to exercise that power on their behalf. This is in contrast to a monarchy, where a ruler inherits power.
The U.S. is specifically a Constitutional Federal Republic, meaning its government is based on a Constitution that limits the power of government and divides it between a national and state level.
The US is a “federal constitutional republic.”

The United States is also a “representative democracy,” since we, the people, hold the ultimate political power.
We are NOT a “direct democracy,” but we are a “representative democracy.”
We, as citizens, exercise our political power by voting in elections to choose our representatives. That’s representative democracy.
Now maybe we know a little more about our country & government. Many of us don’t know these things.
Including me. Now I know a bit more. Sharing with everyone. Learning the definition of words, learning about our country….love, Risa
