Today, July 5, first Saturday of July, is the International Day of Cooperatives. The roots of the cooperative movement can be traced back to the earliest cooperative record from Scotland in 1761. However, the modern cooperative movement began in earnest in 1844 with a group of 28 artisans in the cotton mills of northern England. These trailblazing people established the first modern cooperative business, setting a precedent for future cooperatives worldwide.

The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) was formed in 1895. They began to observe the first Saturday of July as International Cooperative Day in 1927. love, Risa
