What in the heavens is influencing us each day? How do we know?
Earth Sun Moon Sky News today. July 6, 2026.
Monday, a new week of things yet to be. In our magical world –
Lots of Aries (Rays 1 & 7) energies today – humanity’s self identity (Mars 6) & words from the Mind (Mercury 4) of God. Anchored (Uranus 7) within each of us.
And so….
Aries moon begins this morning after the Pisces moon v/c.
Aries moon today is very busy well into the night.
The Moon is sailing way out where the farthest planets to the Earth are. Today, Moon makes contact with Jupiter, Neptune & Pluto.
Sun & Mercury in Cancer. Tomorrow, Neptune in Aries retrogrades at 4 degrees Aries – ’til mid December..
Earth, Sun & Sky News
The Earth reaches aphelion (far away from the Sun) today — the point in its elliptical orbit where it is farthest from the Sun.
It seems completely backward that we are farthest from the solar furnace (Solar Logos) during the sweltering heat of July, but it’s a great reminder that our seasons are caused by the tilt of the Earth’s axis, not our distance from the Sun!
Because our orbit isn’t a perfect circle, the Sun’s apparent size in the sky actually changes slightly throughout the year. Today, the sun’s apparent diameter is about 3% smaller than it is in early January (when we are at perihelion, our closest point).
While the Earth as a whole is furthest from the sun today, the Northern Hemisphere is currently tilted toward the sun. That tilt means the sun’s rays hit us more directly and for more hours each day.
High in the eastern sky this evening, you will see three brilliant stars. Use your imagination to connect these stars so that they form a massive triangle. This is the king of the summer asterisms, aptly named the Summer Triangle. The stars anchoring it are Vega (the brightest, in Lyra), Altair (in Aquila), and Deneb (in Cygnus). It is the ultimate summer signpost.
Predawn (Tuesday morning) – the ½ illumined moon in the pre dawn southeastern sky is sitting next to pale blue ice giant Neptune (2nd most distant planet from Earth).
Near the waning moon crescent is bright & steady yellow Saturn, so bright we can see it without a telescope. But Earth Sky says with a telescope, Saturn is a “show stopped.” I have seen Saturn thru the Griffith Park telescope. Saturn’s rings have been undetectable, but they are beginning to open up & encircle the planet once again. Also look for a pinprick of light. That’s Titan, Saturn’s largest moon hovering nearby.
When the moon is in its waning (less & less light) phase, one can capture “earthshine.”
This is the ghostly glow illuminating the dark, unlit portion of the moon, caused by sunlight reflecting off the Earth’s oceans and clouds back onto the lunar surface.
***The chart today is below – we all should have our astrology charts in paper form – lots of them printed out. And then each day (morning as a meditation) we look at the astrology chart for the day & we write out by hand the planetary movements, Sun & Moon & Planets, placing them (transits) around our charts. Then we look for same number/ degrees. We see where the heavenly positions of the planets, Sun Moon are located in our charts. We use a bi-wheel – inner wheel our astrology chart, outer wheel the heavens. Then we know what to focus on, what areas of life are being influenced, what is evolving within us. love, Risa
