The First Night –
The candles are lit. The wine prayed over. The challah sliced & dipped in honey. The food has been blessed. And the prayer of gratitude for reaching the first night of the New Year has been spoken. Everyone is at the table for the first night.

The Prayer
Blessed are you, L-rd our G‑d, King of the universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and has commanded us to kindle the light of (the Sabbath and) the Day of Remembrance.
Blessed are You, Lord our G‑d, King of the universe, who has granted us life, sustained us, and enabled us to reach this occasion.
And so the Jewish Festival of Rosh Hashanah has begun – 10 High Holy Day, Days of Awe, Days of praise of goodness, gratitude & at the heart, forgiveness. G-d watching over His people.
La Shana Tova – a happy new year to everyone.
