A Study of Ecclesiastes 3 – Astrology & Time
Ecclesiastes is a book in the Bible, the Old Testament.
The word is Greek & it means “The Teacher Teaching to the Assembly of Students & Seekers.”
It is a sacred name & title that awakens respect, reverence and love in the hearts of the listeners/students, etc.
Among occult students, the word “Teacher” retains its sacred significance (the word “teacher” lost today in the secular world).

Reading/Understanding Ecclesiastes
We are to come to the text of Ecclesiastes as if it is a sacred Teacher (the Teachings become the Teacher), in a special relationship with the students – a spiritual Teacher, having a closeness to the students like a parent teaching spiritual teachings. The Teacher calls the students “the young ones, the little ones, our younger brothers & sisters.”

Here in daiy posting & in the bible, Ecclesiastes signifies a spiritual Teacher (the Teachings are the Teacher) instructing in the heavenly worlds as well as in the Mystery Schools (of which this Ashram is one).

The words of Ecclesiastes (& the wisdom teachings posted here daily) are “living words” that speak directly to the inner heart of the students…in symbols, forms, in vibration, in number & in color.

The speech of Angels permeates the Divine Wisdom Teachings.
It has a certain quality that echoes in the Halls of Learning in the Mystery Schools, & only those who are seeking & are ready discover, integrate & are touched by the Teachings.

“And the Teacher taught knowledge so that the students could become wise, and the Teacher set the students’ minds & hearts in order as the Teacher offered the Truth.” Ecc. 12:9-10.

The words are not for the mystic, who often swoons in ecstacy and thus gets lost in lightning like emotions & out of body experiences.

The words here are more for the occultist, a more mental approach, scientifically worked out step by step, along percribed channels with specific tasks to be performed. Occultism is along the Path of Knowledge which becomes wisdom over time. Because knowledge itself eventually longer satisfies. One must become “wise as serpents.” From the Halls of Learning, to the Halls of Knowledge, to the Halls of Wisdom, the steps of each Disciple.

Ecclesiastes is a Book of the Mind, in the same way that occultism, its study, is a study using the mind/Mind.

It’s about knowledge of the Soul (which is on the mental plane).
It has roots in Egypt (Book of the Harper) & Babylonia (Gilgamesh).
It is a book about the mystery of dualism, as it is also called the book of Two Voices – one eternal, one material. It’s main concept is that knowledge w/our Spirit is dead knowledge, it has no life.

Astrology is the Mother Science of Occultism.
The ancients knew this & thus it formed the foundation of the Mystery School Teachings. Astrology & its study brings one to a Gate of Initiation . A basic exercise for students was to “follow the Sun” in its movement thru the 12 signs of the zodiac, realizing one had all the attributes of these 12 signs which the Sun itself vivifies (standing in the Sun at dawn & dusk, performing the Sun Salutation/Yoga exercises).

“My Father’s House has many Mansion” refers to the 12 signs of the zodiac, each sign a Christ/Soul Star, the sign under one is born assumes lives under, learns & become those Divine Attributes. Astology is the greatest of all spiritual & metaphysical Mysteries.

Astrology as a timing mechanism.
Ecclesiastes Book 3 speaks of this astrological timing.

[1] To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
[2] A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
[3] A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
[4] A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
[5] A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
[6] A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
[7] A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
[8] A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

[11] He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, s
[12] a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
[13] And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
[14] I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever:

[15] That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.
[16] And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.
[17] I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

We honor St. Michael during the days of the Succoth.
These days are called Michaelmas – & the Days of Sukkot.
Or the Days of Ingathering.

Sukkoth is called the Pilgrim Festival and the Fall Harvest festival – beginning today after the full Harvest Moon. “Feast of the Ingathering,” Exodus 23:16), when grains and fruits were gathered at the harvest’s end, and to ḥag ha-sukkot (“Feast of Booths,” Leviticus 23:34), recalling the days when the Israelites lived in huts (sukkot) during their years of wandering in the wilderness after the Exodus from Egypt. The festival is characterized by the erection of huts made of branches and by the gathering of four species of plants, with prayers of thanksgiving to God for the fruitfulness of the land.

Michaelmas
Feast of St. Michael, the Archangel, Earth’s guide and protector during autumn. It was also St. Michael who led the Jewish people safely through their 40-year sojourn in the desert wilderness before entering Canaan.
During each season a different cosmic protector or archangel tends and cares for and protects Earth and her kingdoms. The autumn Archangel is Michael. He carries a fiery sword.

O Lord our God and God of our fathers,
Cause Your Divine spirit to dwell in our midst.
Spread over us your shelter of peace,
and encircle us with Your majestic glory, holy and pure.
For those who are hungry and thirsty,
grant them sufficient bread and water.
Lord, grant us a long life in the holy land
that we may serve You with reverence.
