The scarab that sings for all to hear, the sound of creation.
Cancer represents the Gate In, through which the Soul originally enters (‘falls’ into the) Earth at (our 1st & original) birth – from the spiritual world into matter.
The opposite sign of Capricorn is the Gate of Return – the Gate through which the Soul, liberated from matter, can ascend again.
In the cycle of the year the entrance of the sun into Cancer marks the beginning of the “dark 1/2 of the year” or the “time of descent” (the Sun begins its journey southward – a time of 6 months when humanity enters into the subtle dense matter. This continues until December’s Winter Solstice – when the Light ascends once again. The light half of the year begins again – the days becoming lighter and bright again.
In the old Egyptian zodiac of Denderah Cancer is the scarab, which can sing and transform a young insect into a winged being by the power of his music. This scarab stands for the Neptune-principle (Neptune retrogrades Tuesday), the planet of divine music and devotion, whose vibrations are transmitted to earth via the moon.
By contemplating these magnetic lines of force during the month of Cancer, the winged soul can ascend from the plane of the earth to the more subtle, musical planes, there becoming a bright & starry liberated presence.
