Love Spoken Here is the title of a video I am posting today.
What is it about?
Many of you know about my son Matthew.
July 1, 2022, Matthew had a motorcycle accident just after midnight, falling into a on a dangerous curve on the freeway coming into Santa Cruz.
Matthew was found not breathing, helicoptered to a trauma unit where they asked my daughters “should we pull the plug? the answer being of course “absolutely not,” & so began the days & weeks & months & years-long process of healing for Matthew.
Last year or may 2 years ago, Matthew began attending college at the Stroke Center at Cabrillo College. All of Matthew’s life, school was not easy for him. Matthew is an artist which uses different aspects of the brain than regular school recognizes.
The Stroke Center is dedicated to helping those with all levels of disability – it is part of Cabrillo College & is the only such center for those with disabilities in the entire country.
Matthew attends the Stroke Center. And he loves it. “These are my people,” he says. And love is spoken here.
The video is part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Stroke Center. 50 years it has been serving the people.
I am deeply grateful as Matthew’s mother that the Stroke Center exists. That Matthew & all those who are disabled are able to participate with other in college, in a school that is fashioned for their needs.
The Stroke Center is Matthew’s focus & it is his ongoing healing, too.
Serving
As a side issue, as I watched this video (Matthew is the first one/student you see & hear in the video), as I actually wept watching it – the courage of everyone in the film….I realized I wanted to support & send a tithe (donation) to the Stroke Center. Maybe you might want to too.
Maybe those in Santa Cruz might want to volunteer, too.
Helping, caring for, service & responding to those in need, which the Stroke Center does so completely. Love Happens There.
with love, Risa
