A THANK-YOU MESSAGE FROM RISA –

I want to thank those who in the past weeks have reached out, supported me with words, thoughts, prayers, posts, chats, stories, messages & tithes. I have placed into my heart everyone messages, emails, chats, posts. They reside there & they help me.

I have felt sad these past weeks for those in Santa Cruz looking for the column, confused at not finding it, wondering where it went. I have tried to respond to everyone who wrote me. Forgive me if I did not, if some messages were not seen yet or overlooked.

Many of you reached out, offered love, care, understanding & solace. I still have thank-you notes to send to those who tithed – those knowing with the loss of the column, my income was lost, too.

I want to tell you about one person in particular who wrote to me. He lives in Santa Cruz. He has five planets in Pisces, he just had knee surgery & he has a parrot named Honeybird. His name is Tomas & he wrote he was going to stand by the doors of the Good Times until someone spoke with him. And he was going to have a yard sale for Risa & Honeybird would be his security if anything should happen. Tomas also besieged the Good Times with phone calls, calling for Risa’s column to be reinstated. We know that is most unlikely – we live in a strange new world now. Things are not normal & freedom of speech is now in question. Thank you, Tomas, & everyone for your help, assistance, love & understanding. I love you.

A little poem for all of us…
The heart moves the spirit. We reach into ourselves, then reach out to those around us & even those far away. We are One with each other even when separated by geography.

Dear Readers….thank you for your love and support as I go through the shock at the loss of my Santa Cruz column. Your love, support, blessings, messages, tithes, etc. all have helped me know I am not alone here. And that we will continue on in a new way. Thank you for going through this with me. I have felt up & down, joy & sadness, fear & anguish, feeling all the instabilities of changes. I am trying to achieve a poise within the constant states of transformation. I am trying to find a harmony within the loss. Knowing & thinking about your presence helps me. The saddest part for me is the many who, every Wednesday, went to find the Good Times to read the column in the paper. Story after story came to me about people’s Wednesday ritual…looking forward to it, finding the paper, going to a coffee shop, having coffee, opening the back of the Good Times, reading their sign, reading the column introduction. And, now…the paper is not there for readers anymore. After thirty years. Readers now too are shocked. For my readers, most of all, I am saddened, sorrowful & heart broken. I have to reorient myself now. Seeking new platforms, new sources of disseminating my writings. So, for now and in the future, my focus will be on my readers, Night Light News (NLN website), the column, & the Daily Studies that I write (also here on NLN). I will, with your help, attempt to create a new community, a new Ashram, a new place of interaction with all of us. I will continue to teach as before. It’s important that we continue to learn together. We are in a wave, a cultural revolution. New waves will be coming in different shades & variations. These will push us forward. We will need to understand them. And that is my job. To explain what is occurring. To stand with you at the Gate of the new world. A new era. Humanity is in a crisis and many veils need to be pushed aside in order for all of us to understand the political realms pushing us into the present state of disharmony & chaos. I will continue to offer astrological commentary, to write, to counsel, to do charts, to mentor. I will at some time open up the meditations for those who are interested. Step by step, I am assessing these things in the retrogrades, from now till winter solstice, when Jupiter & Saturn align in Aquarius, and a new cycle begins. As many of you told me how I helped you through the year, you now help me, holding out your hand, lifting me up, helping me through shock & loss. So, now we will help each other. Summer Solstice, 2020 June 20th is the Summer Solstice, the high point of our solar year, when nature is at perfection. The magical transformation of hard brown seeds into flower and color has culminated. The solstices and equinoxes tell us a story about light four times a year. Light pierced the heart of matter (the core of the Earth) during Winter Solstice, when Earth was in darkness. At Spring Equinox, the light rose from the core of the Earth and touched the roots with a globe of fire. Now, at Summer Solstice, there is a powerful radiation of released light in plants and trees. Their waving about is actually a movement of ecstasy. Earth is in a state of joy and well-being. Angelic beings, fairies, and devas can be contacted more easily and intimately at this time. Summer Solstice marks the time when their great work of mixing and manipulating color, light, and sound to produce chlorophyll in plants is complete. In the etheric realms, fairy dancing and feasting takes place in fields and meadows everywhere in northern latitudes. Shakespeare’s Midsummer’s Night Dream describes accurately the inner workings of nature during Summer Solstice. Filled with drama concerning occult truths and the Mysteries of Initiation, the play lasts for four days, the same amount of time the Sun in Cancer is poised at its northernmost position perpendicular to the Earth. A marriage feast performed by the fairies (devas, beings of light) during these four days acknowledges the uniting of the feminine (receptive Earth) and masculine (radiating Light) poles. The uniting & equalizing of the feminine column & the masculine column – these are the pillars at the doors of Masonry. Uniting the mind principle with the heart of all that matters. During the Aquarian Age, both columns stand equipoised in their energies, balanced, filled with Light. Note the glyph of Cancer – almost a circle, a holding, an embrace. The Hierarchy of Cancer, called the Cherubim, is responsible for the appearance (birth) of all forms on Earth (Ray 3, intelligence within form). Summer solstice thus begins a new cycle for humanity – the new gathering of the sun & moon seeds for the incoming new year. Summer Solstice is under the guardianship of Archangel Uriel, the constellation Cancer, and Sirius, the blue-white star that, working with Venus, stimulates the power of beauty. Sirius is the source of Masonry, of Love, Wisdom, Divine Manas (intelligence), & of Freedom. The USA was formed & is under the divine guidance & direction of Sirius. Happy Summer everyone! Risa

Summer 2020 – Building a Lighted House

Last Saturday, the Sun entered the sign of Cancer and settled for three days in its northern-most position – at the Tropic of Cancer. The solstice ended the light half of the year. Now, gradually we will enter the dark half of the year. Within the light of summer, shadows imperceptibly begin to be seen. This reflects the Cancer’s seed thought on the Soul level….” I build a lighted house (within the darkness & shadows, says the Soul) & therein I dwell.”

Summer consists of three zodiacal signs– Cancer, Leo and Virgo. Each has esoteric significance.
Cancer (the nurturer) – water – Baptism by water (later by fire)– cleansing the emotional body.
Leo (the creative one)– fire – Identification – creativity leading to new spiritual identity.
Virgo (gestating a new reality, holding a sheaf of wheat) – earth – birth of the Holy Child (Soul) at Winter Solstice.

Cancer (zodiac) is the sign of mother, family, home, nourishment, the embryonic waters nurturing new life. Cancer, with Moon as its ruler, nurtures the masses of humanity. In our very earliest incarnations on Earth everyone entered the Earth through the sign of Cancer.

Cancer is concerned with humanity’s food supply. During Cancer we investigate how humanity will be adequately fed in times to come. New natural ways (not false meat or GMO foods) must be found to feed Earth’s population. Assisting in this task is Mars (intention, focus) entering Aries (initiating the new), Mercury in Cancer (communicate, think, study, nurture humanity), and Venus in Gemini (right thinking about resources).

As the month of Cancer unfolds, the light, increasing since winter solstice, now imperceptibly begins to decrease. In the midst of light, the shadows of autumn and winter appears. We are always in paradox. Life as paradox is bittersweet here on Earth.

Aries	March 21 – April 19: In the months to come, you will experience both opportunities and challenges. You find the courage to meet each one because of your nature – fiery, willing, enthusiastic. This year everyone will experience vast changes, radical shifts, states of impermanence that, in the end, will call upon each of us to bring forth creative endeavors and ways of being based on new archetypes. Keep moving, pausing for rest here and there. You are one of the leaders in this.
Taurus	*April 20 – May 20:* It is most important to take care of your health this year. Especially if you seek to have all your wishes come true. Tending to your health will take discipline, research, thinking, studying, detailed planning, circadian rhythms and homeopaths. Your good judgment has others seeking your advice and insights. You need good health to be able to help others. Seek comfort and rest and beauty. And consider an alkaline diet.
Gemini	*May 21 – June 20:* Notice if much of the past, including memory, events, ideas, thought and people quietly slip away. This is not good, bad or something to be frightened about. It means you are traveling onward; your life is clearing away hindrances. Healing occurs when old patterns disappear as they are no longer useful. Healing, the Tibetan writes, allows for the Soul to be free. You need to be free.
Cancer	*June 21 – July 22:* Summer belongs to you. Are you communicating with friends and neighbors? Cancer people like to be somewhat secluded. They also enjoy helping others in need. Do not enter into power struggles with others. When directing others listen carefully to everyone’s communication. This allows for no separation and misunderstandings to occur. You are to be the mentor for Goodwill and Right Human Relations.
Leo	*July 23 – August 22:* As work comes with more responsibilities, you will notice how capable and responsible a leader you are, able to assume multiple tasks with skill and agility. Many people trust and learn from your constancy, sense of rightness and patience. Simultaneously, you harbor secret thoughts, hopes, wishes and dreams. It’s important to take time away from work, seeking quiet and retreat. Step into the shadows. There are messages there.
Virgo	*August 23 – September 22:* Take time to consider what you would like for the future. Create a picture/photo journal depicting how you want your life to be. Begin before your birthday so that when it arrives you have clear goals for your new coming year. Don’t be predictable. Be groundbreaking, inventive and original. Use nothing from the past – no beliefs or plans – to create your possible future. The past needs to be transcended completely.
Libra	September 23 – October 22: You need to run away to places far away. You need to travel, have an adventure, find new people to communicate with. You need things harmonious, kind, restful and good. You need to think of the impossible. Know that ideas become ideals, then manifest in form and matter. You need a feeling of being submerged in a calming peaceful new reality. What more do you feel you need?
Scorpio	October 23 – November 21: As daily life changes, and continues to, all relationships begin to change too. Every day something new appears. Daily life becomes different, unexpected and unusual. This will continue through winter solstice. What is unusual eventually becomes the usual over time. Preparing for the new era. The past, showing up on your doorstep, arrives in order to complete itself, then it disappears again. Hopefully for the last time. You show gratitude.
Sagittarius	*November 22 – December 21:* You need the same things Libra needs, but more so. Something of fantasy and make-believe, something imagined. You may not know what it is. It will have two faces. Don’t be confused. Be spontaneous, curious yet cautious. Careful with money. The usual warning, but more so, again. As the world feels like it’s dissolving away, your creative expression takes on Aquarian tones, work becomes ever more expanded. You interact in the world with poise and equanimity. And joy. Capricorn	December 22 – January 19: Here are the energies for Caps as they enter the summer months. A new sense of self-identity, new creativity, precious sense of a new self being found, communication being refined, a pursuing of the Art of Living, little tasks all summer in many diverse ways, new neighborhoods, Goodwill and a new balance through Right Relations in the world. Having an interlude of just the right kind of rest.
Aquarius	January 20 – February 18: Interacting with many different groups of people. This is your spiritual task. To be an acquaintance to everyone, gathering and dispersing information for the future endeavors of humanity. The Hierarchy looks down on Earth seeking those who carry the “light for the world.” You carry that light. Therefore, you’re sent here and there to disperse that light. Rest a while sometimes. Play more. Share. Be kind always.
Pisces	February 19 – March 20: New and different worlds become acquainted with you along with new and different experiences. You’ve had a recent loss. Know that a new unexpected endeavor will be offered. For now, simply do the work needed each day. It will heal hurts and separations. A depth of communication is available at this time. Make contact with all people, kingdoms and events around you. Contact releases love. If someone is separated and far away, visualize you with them, heart to heart. Love happens.
